Minister Highlights in Dubai Morocco's Attractiveness in Digital Infrastruction

Dubai - The Minister Delegate in charge of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, Ghita Mezzour, highlighted in Dubai the attractiveness of Morocco in terms of digital infrastructure, thanks to which it occupies the third place in Africa.

Speaking at the Forum of the Arab Organization for Administrative Development on the sidelines of its participation in the World Summit of Governments, held from March 29 to 31, Mezzour stressed the major role that digital transformation plays in the socio-economic development of the Kingdom, in accordance with the enlightened vision of HM King Mohammed VI, said the ministry in a statement released on Monday.

This working visit to the United Arab Emirates was, moreover, punctuated by bilateral meetings that brought together Mezzour and senior Emirati officials, including the Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Telework Applications, Omar bin Sultan Al Olama, to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence and digital economy, the statement added.

The two sides agreed to study a partnership project between the two ministries to promote start-up's ecosystem and train Moroccan skills in the field of artificial intelligence.

The Minister also met with the UAE Minister of State for Government Development and Future, Ohood bint Khalfan Al Roumi, to discuss prospects for cooperation in the field of digitization of public services, including to draw inspiration from successful experiences in the United Arab Emirates, according to the same source.

In this context, Mezzour held a working session with the Director General of Dubai Digital Authority, Hamad Al Mansouri, to discuss the process of digital transformation conducted by the Emirate of Dubai over the past 20 years, which has achieved a level of citizen satisfaction of more than 90%, especially regarding the digitization of public services.

The meeting also allowed UAE officials to present the successful experience of "Dubai Now", the unified application for government services in the city, which provides more than 120 smart services from over 30 government and private agencies.

The Minister also held a meeting with the Chairman of the State Agency of Public Services and Social Innovations of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ulvi Mehdiyev, with the aim of implementing the provisions of the Memorandum of Understanding uniting the two parties, and discussing the possibilities of further cooperation in the field of digitization of public services.

On this occasion, she visited the pavilion of Azerbaijan at the Expo 2020 Dubai; a country that has indeed conducted a successful experiment in this field, through the establishment of the ASAN (Azerbaijan Service and Assessment Network), which aims to make public services more efficient, transparent and easily accessible to citizens.

In order to encourage the initiatives of Moroccan institutions participating in the Expo Dubai 2020, Mezzour visited the "Annual Investment Meeting" in Dubai, where she led a visit to the stand of the Moroccan Agency for Investment Development and Exports, the opportunity to discuss ways to promote Morocco as a destination of choice for investors in the field of digital, notes the release.

She also attended a conference organized by the Moroccan Capital Market Authority and the Casablanca Stock Exchange as part of the "Morocco Capital Market Days", which aim to shed light on the attractiveness of the Kingdom's financial markets, especially among foreign investors.

This working visit was an opportunity to promote the exchange of experiences, to promote new prospects for partnership and strengthen the privileged and fraternal bilateral relations that exist between the United Arab Emirates and the Kingdom of Morocco, concludes the statement.
